1979 starcraft super sport cable steering to hydraulic steering

Hydraulic steering on a 16SS seems expensive and is overkill in my opinion. I've used the Teleflex SeaStar Rotary 4.2 NFB(no feedback) system on two of my boats and have no complaints.

Wiring was a tedious process and I still have some finish work and wire management left to do, but everything works so far! I took a harness and cut off the plugs on the console side to wire everything in independently. Top mount controls, trim switch, ignition, kill switch, tach, water gauge...

Also got all the "spares" and "projects" tucked away nicely, aside from the extra parts lying around. Need to find a good spot to keep everything organized that's in pieces and not sitting on a motor stand...

Big milestone yesterday...got the motor mounted! Also got my first mow of the year in, which had me looking at my mess of a garage... Figured with all the moving around I needed to do to get things moved from winter storage to seasonal use, it was time to get the motor off the stand and onto...

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

Some of my builds have taken several years. Life happens and there are many things more important than rebuilding an old boat. I remember after my cardiac surgery thinking I was going to spend more time enjoying life rather than working on projects that takes some of that time away. I also soon...

    1982 starcraft v220 mariner v5 potential rebuild

Location can greatly influence the going price someone is willing to pay. Not much value provided in the actual hull itself, people look more at the overall package value with trailer and motor. The dual axle galvanized trailer will help the value. Not quite sure what you have hanging off the...

Still need to update the registration and get the numbers on, but she now identifies as a Starcraft.

Picked up another TOP project locally for $50 to add to the fleet. 1976 that needs a little work, but will either see a restoration in the future, or become another parts motor. The first distributor model to add to the four other CDI motors I have sitting here. Also found a nice little long...

Slowly picking away at all this wiring and my body is reminding me that its not as limber as it once was. These center consoles add another element without the ability to just run wires/cables/steering/etc. under gunnels and/or behind side panels. The top mount controls, gauges, ignition, etc...

    1982 starcraft v220 mariner v5 potential rebuild

Check out Aircraft Tool Supply(ATS) and some of their 4x rivet guns. I've been happy with mine. Tried it with the air hammer, which was fine for a couple of solids, but if you're going to be setting more than just a few, it's well worth the investment. Watermann has a excellent sticky at the...

Time to bring this thread back to life! Took a little hiatus for awhile due to some unexpected medical issues, but I've been following along in the shadows again and ready to finally get this old girl back on the water. Looks like things have slowed down significantly on the forum, but I still...
